Initiative breeds 'magic' by linking funds, entrepreneurs and laboratory technology
| March 6, 2008 |
Gary Ebersole had just moved to Santa Fe from Silicon Valley when he was approached to be on a panel to provide feedback and coaching to new entrepreneurs.
One of the presenters was a scientist at Los Alamos National Laboratory and Ebersole liked his idea so much, he licensed the technology from LANL and launched a startup, Knowledge Reef Systems. The firm is developing a social computing platform for knowledge communities. Knowledge Reef received funding from a venture acceleration fund, as well as the New Mexico GAP Fund managed by Flywheel Ventures, and is seeking funding from the New Mexico Angels.
Ebersole jokes he is now considered the poster boy for the program that put the panel together, called Springboard.
