Railroad buffs see increasing support for passenger rail service through Missoula
| March 2, 2008 |
A meeting of the Montana Association of Railroad Passengers brought people from around the state to Helena Friday, with a goal of showing support for renewal of service on a southern route through the state.
More than 50 people shoehorned into the conference room of the Chamber of Commerce Building, which one backer saw as a sign of growing support for additional passenger trains in Montana.
“It just shows you that people in Montana and across the nation need another choice, and that there should be some changes to our transportation system,” said Michael Ackley of Missoula, vice president of the association.
