Nonprofits working to bring more money to Montana. Mountain Sky Guest Ranch

Each year, an important part of Tawnya Rupe’s job is figuring out the best way to divvy up $300,000.

Rupe directs the philanthropic arm of Mountain Sky Guest Ranch http://www.mtnsky.com/ , up Big Creek in the southern end of the Paradise Valley. She and other staff members review applications and decide which nonprofits in Gallatin and Park counties will receive a grant from the ranch.

This year, Mountain Sky’s staff decided to focus the ranch’s giving on nonprofits that develop and maintain area trails and organizations that get youth outdoors.

“We’re really on the ground, trying to understand the issues that nonprofits face and how to help them,” she said.
