Former boy soldier from Sierra Leone tells MSU crowd to think beyond Montana
| February 27, 2008 |
"Think beyond Montana, and beyond the United States," he said. "Be curious...think beyond yourself."
Young people should believe they can contribute to the world, because they have all the intelligence and knowledge they need to create change, a former boy soldier from Sierra Leone told a group of people gathered at Montana State University recently.
"We don't need to wait until we are older to start doing things," Beah said. "We don't have the luxury to wait."
Beah, a 27-year-old activist and author of "A Long Way Gone: Memoirs of a Boy Soldier," spoke to a sold-out crowd of 1,200 people Tuesday evening in MSU's SUB ballrooms.
