"Big Sky-Small Acres" provides answers to new land owners in Montana.

When newcomers buy their piece of the Montana dream, they frequently arrive with misguided notions and unanswered questions. Providing information for that target audience is the purpose behind Big Sky-Small Acres, a new Montana publication.

The first issue of the slick, color magazine was published in December by a partnership of state agencies. It covers seasonal topics aimed at helping new Montanans manage their small-acreage properties, said Carbon County Extension Agent Tanya Daniels, who was instrumental in the magazine’s launch.

"We wanted something people would want to pick up," she said, "or something they would look forward to getting in the mailbox."

Subscriptions for the quarterly Big Sky-Small Acres cost $8 a year and can be ordered by sending a check, payable to Montana State University, to Extension Communications, P.O. Box 172230, Bozeman, MT 59717-2230.
