Ravalli County Farmers and Ranchers - "If you want my land then buy it"
| February 22, 2008 |
More than 50 Bitterroot Valley farmers and ranchers pushed aside their calving and feeding chores to learn about countywide zoning and to voice their concerns to officials involved in the process.
Bright and early Thursday morning, local agricultural folk packed into Wally Weber’s Ranch, a usual early morning meeting place.
The general consensus among some of the largest landowners in the county: they want their private property rights to be honored and they don’t want to be restricted with what they could do with their land.
“I don’t want anyone or any agency telling me what to do,” Ray Peterson said in the jam-packed shop. “If you want to do something with my land, then buy it.”
The Bitterroot Valley Board of Relators helped organize the meeting.
