Masking the cold - Talus Outdoor Technologies of Missoula develops product that helps keep outdoor enthusiasts warm
| February 19, 2008 |
Like a lot of excellent ideas, John Sullivan Jr.'s grew from need.
His face was freezing. Granted, he could have solved the problem by going inside. But Sullivan is a skier not inclined to the indoors when there's fresh powder.
Like most cold-weather athletes, Sullivan had tried most of what's out there for face masks. He was dissatisfied enough to believe the world needed a better mask, something with enough air flow, a way to deal with humidity and, most importantly, comfortable warmth.
That dissatisfaction was the impetus for a new company, Talus Outdoor Technologies http://talusoutdoortech.com/ , headquartered here in Missoula and captained by his son, John Sullivan III.
