Preparing for Montana's Growing Older Population
| February 15, 2008 |
Montana is on track to become the nation's 5th most elderly state per capita by the year 2030. That's according to Montana's Senior and Long Term Care Division.
Preparation has already begun on caring for the growing elderly population. The Senior and Long Term Care Division of the state Department of Public Health and Human Services is looking ahead. And they're analyzing the needs of the 50,000 seniors in Montana already receiving their services to anticipate the needs in the coming decades.
"We're looking at the services that they're currently getting. We're looking at their daily living activities. Do they need help with feeding, bathing, medications, those kinds of things?" explained Charlie Rehbein with the Senior and Long Term Care Division.
