Montana flight students aim for their own school. Closure, loss of helicopter courses at Silver State Helicopters catch many off-guard
| February 13, 2008 |
Rather than give up their dreams of flying, disgruntled flight students in Helena are starting their own school.
Last week's closure of Silver State Helicopters came as a surprise to the more than 50 students who spent close to $70,000 each in tuition and fees for courses at the Helena school. Silver State, which is based in Las Vegas, also operates flight schools in other states.
The firm filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy last week in Nevada. In such a bankruptcy, a debtor's assets are sold and the proceeds are distributed to creditors.
