Montana Tech campus doubles in size with land donated by Arco
| February 6, 2008 |
ARCO has given 57 acres to Montana Tech http://www.mtech.edu/ to expand its campus, effectively doubling the size of the Butte institution.
The land grant is the first step in Montana Tech achieving its vision of having more academic departments, student offerings and multiple new facilities.
“As outlined in our vision, this new land will give Montana Tech the opportunity to expand its research and academic facilities,” said Chancellor Frank Gilmore.
The land is in four different sections, expanding west from its present site: north of Blue Bird Trail and to the west of campus; south of Blue Bird Trail to the World Museum of Mining and west to just before a ventilation shaft near the Orphan Girl mine; the other two sections are south below the HPER complex and extending down to Steel Street.
