Idaho Energy council member touts nuclear energy
| February 5, 2008 |
One of Idaho's most experienced energy experts Monday told senators that nuclear power is a good fit for the Gem State, and that he supportes the state in a recent legal challenge over a pivotal decades-old water agreement.
Nuclear energy's promise has been shown elsewhere in the world but it is still bogged down by political and social pressures, Jim Yost, a recent appointee by Gov. C.L. "Butch" Otter to the Northwest Power and Conservation Council, told the Senate Resource and Conservation Committee.
"Nuclear energy is a proven energy source," he said. "It has some political and social acceptance that needs to be overcome."
