Inside Entrepreneurship: Advice about 'part-time' startups

Q: I am planning to retire in 18 months and want to pursue my furniture-making hobby as a part-time business. I know all about securing supplies and feel pretty confident about pricing, advertising and selling on eBay. My wife thinks I won't enjoy it any more once making furniture becomes a business. She's also concerned about losing more money than we take in. What do you think?
