Trailer treasure: S&P Conversions of Missoula turns horse rigs into plush traveling homes
| January 25, 2008 |
Inside a warehouse at S&P Conversions, the percussive beat of a staple gun accompanies a whining router and a buzzing sander.
It's a power-tool ensemble that transforms plain steel boxes of new horse trailers into deluxe living quarters for rodeo ropers, reiners and other riders.
For those people who can afford $24,000 or more to customize their show trailers, it's a retreat from the flies, sweat and pressures of competition.
The firm has received loans and business assistance from several local banks and from the Montana Community Development Corp. http://www.mtcdc.org/ Steve Grover, business development manager at MCDC, said the firm was turning away customers and needed help expanding. They offered them about $100,000 in loans.
