The Annie E. Casey Foundation - Building Strong Communities Through Affordable Housing. Peer Technical Assistance Leads to Action
| January 22, 2008 |
The Annie E. Casey Foundation’s Making Connections initiative http://www.aecf.org/ works in partnership with residents in communities across the country in an effort to improve the outcomes for children and families living in tough neighborhoods. The principle goals of the Making Connections initiative are to link residents to economic opportunities, social networks and effective services that will improve the lives and well-being of children and their families over a ten-year period.
As a part of Making Connections, Casey offers the participating communities access to technical assistance to support their work in strengthening families and neighborhoods. Peer technical assistance is an integral part of that support, allowing communities to learn from other communities and organizations that have addressed issues similar to the ones they have identified. Peer technical assistance involves intensive planning and design and structured follow up to focus and achieve the learning objectives of all parties involved.
