Peg Shea to Retire from Montana Meth Project

Peg Shea Assumes New Role as the Organization Expands

The Montana Meth Project http://www.montanameth.org/ today announced that Peg Shea will step down from her full-time role as executive director. Ms. Shea, who has served in this post since the Montana Meth Project was established, will remain active on a part-time basis and as a member of the advisory council.

During Shea’s two-year tenure as executive director, Montana has seen a 45% decrease in teen Meth use, 70% decline in workers testing positive for Meth, and a 53% reduction in Meth-related crimes.

"Working for the Meth Project has been the most fulfilling job of my career," said Shea. "At the same time, the role of executive director requires a significant commitment. It’s time for the Montana Meth Project to go to the next level. It’s also time for me to spend more time with my family."

Shea has served as executive director of the Montana Meth Project since September 2005, and has been instrumental in the organization’s success. She has since assumed additional responsibilities for the Meth Project as the program has expanded to new states including Idaho, Illinois and Arizona.

"The Meth Project has benefited enormously from Peg’s leadership. She has established a strong and effective organization in Montana and rallied the people of the state in the fight against Meth. Her contribution has made an extraordinary and lasting impact on the methamphetamine problem," said Tom Siebel, founder and vice chairman of the Montana Meth Project. "Her leadership and guidance have been invaluable not only in Montana but also crucial as we establish programs in other states."

"Peg’s efforts in recruiting hundreds of active volunteers to carry the message, her work in raising funds to underwrite the campaign, and her passionate dedication to our mission have been critical to our success," said Mike Gulledge, chairman of the Montana Meth Project. "Although her family obligations necessitate a more flexible schedule, Peg will continue to play an active role in our efforts. I’m delighted she will continue to have significant hands-on responsibility as we move into the next phase of our efforts to eradicate Meth use in Montana."
