Billings School District 2 was given the go-ahead for some $1.6 million in wind power development, and if board members approve a $15,000 investment, district-owned wind turbines could be producing energy by the end of the year.
The district submitted three proposals for interest-free Internal Revenue Service Clean Renewable Energy Bonds, known as CREBs, last year, and all three were approved by the IRS. Potential sites include Skyview High, and two locations north and west of Billings on state school trust lands.
