Cost of flight from Lewistown to Billings makes ‘Time’ magazine
| January 14, 2008 |
Lewistown has vaunted to the august pages of Time magazine, but most Lewistown residents likely would just as soon the matter had not been brought up.
And to make matters worse, the town’s name is misspelled.
Time, in its Jan. 14 issue, reports that the “cost of a Montana flight from Lewistown to Billings and back on Big Sky Airlines (is) $88.”
Then, without comment, the magazine continues, “Federal subsidy paid to the airline for each Lewistown-Billings round trip (is) $1,343. The route, which averaged two passengers a day in 2006, is among those covered by a $110 million small-airports subsidy passed by Congress for 2008.”
