Judy Carter Plans to Paint the Town Funny While Speaking at the Missoula Businesswomen’s Network Annual Symposium

Legendary comedian and comedy coach claims she can make anyone funnier

Carter, a comedy veteran of 30 years and author of Standup Comedy: The Book (Dell Publishing, 1989) and The Comedy Bible (Simon and Schuster, 2001), enjoys her interactions with residents of the communities she travels to as much as the performances themselves.

“The first thing I do when I get in town is find a place to eat,” Carter smiles. “By the time the waitress comes back with my drink order, I’ve already written her new opening and closing lines. Then I sit back and watch her perform the ‘act’ with new customers. She gets bigger tips and I get to see the application of the art.”

Carter doesn’t work exclusively with America’s wait staff. She has performed her brand of “Comedy Makeovers” on everyone from bus drivers, casino dealers, firemen and even a General in the U.S. Air Force.

“We live in a very serious time,” Carter says. “We’ve got a war, the threat of terrorism and Britney Spears is a mother. My mission is to lighten up America one city at a time.”
