Citizens for Education Excellence Calls on Legislature

A group of business and community leaders have called on the Utah State Legislature to fund educational initiatives to increase individualized student attention and create market-based teacher salaries, among other things.
Citizens for Education Excellence is led by former Governor Olene Walker and Zions First National Bank President Scott Anderson. The citizens’ group met with legislators on Monday, January 7, to advocate key educational priorities, including:
· more individual student attention through increased school efficiency
· teacher salaries based on geographic and subject matter market needs
· teacher and administrator mentoring programs to alleviate principal and teacher shortages
