Washington Technology Center presents a SBIR (Small Business Innovation Research) Program for Technology Entrepreneurs seminar on February 15 at Washington State University's Vancouver, Wash. campus.

Small business owners and technology entrepreneurs will learn how to successfully compete for federal SBIR funding. Learn how qualified U.S. businesses can obtain SBIR funding for research to evaluate the scientific and technical merit of an idea, create and test prototype technology, and develop the commercialization strategy.

Seminar speakers will share essential tools and tips for submitting award-winning SBIR proposals. Attendees will learn about the breadth of SBIR support available through WSU's Innovation Assessment Center, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory's Technical Assistance Program, Small Business Development Center Advisors and through collaboration with WSU researchers. The seminar is free and includes lunch, but attendees must register online.

You will hear from:

Hakan Gurocak, Ph.D., Director, School of Engineering and Computer Science at WSU-Vancouver will explain how they can help you develop your ideas through research specialties available for SBIR collaboration

Janet Harte, Certified Business Advisor for the Washington Small Business Development Center will help you understand how to get your business ready to successfully compete for funding.

Jean Montano of Sirti will explain the SBIR phased programs plus share fundamentals about applying for SBIR awards.

Joe Harris, of WSU’s Innovation Assessment Center will explain IAC services and the range of additional tools, assistance and technical expertise available to evaluate your idea and help you develop a strong business case.

Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) will highlight the offer of SBIR support of technical assistance, collaboration, SBIR Alerts and proposal review.

Successful award recipients will share case examples of how their business benefited from SBIR funding.

WSU Vancouver researchers will explain how they can help you develop your ideas through R&D projects.
