Montana should see steady investment in telecommunications over the next five years

They seem to be on every street corner: utility trucks hooking up new fiber-optic, or cable, or satellite connections to somewhere.
They're one of several signs of Montana's scramble to join the big leagues of technological service. Combined with multimillion-dollar investments in similar infrastructure and research labs, it adds up to a healthy picture for the state's high-technology industry.
Montana was a leader in job growth in the tech sector during the past five years. According to international economic forecasting company Global Insight, the state posted the 14th-highest job growth in the nation between 2002 and 2007. Its expansion of 11.8 percent was more than five times better than the national average.
