December 17, 2007View for printing

For the past 20-some years, Olympic champion Eric Bergoust http://www.airbergy.com/ has lived out of a suitcase, moving from ski resort to ski resort to compete in aerials, to train on snow and at water parks, to coach and be coached.

He's circled the globe countless times over the years, winning an Olympic gold medal in Nagano, Japan, and earning 15 World Cup titles, two World Cup championships, three U.S. aerials championships and the 1999 FIS Freestyle World Ski Championship gold medal.

It's been a long, wild ride to the top of a sport that Bergoust helped define. To this day, he is the most successful aerialist in U.S. history. * Now, Bergoust is ready to launch the next phase of his life.

So he's unpacking his boxes of trophies, his mounds of ski gear, the wardrobes he collected during his four Olympic showings and settling into married life in Missoula with his wife, Sally Jo.
