Wind turbine for Arby's nixed in Livingson, Montana
| December 17, 2007 |
Despite a 91-foot McDonald’s sign at the U.S. Highway 89 and Interstate 90 interchange, the Livingston Board of Adjustments Tuesday night recommended the City Commission reject an 80-foot wind turbine to power the Arby’s Restaurant across the street.
Arby’s owner Jerry Carisch’s requested a variance to erect an $180,000, 80-foot wind turbine with 20-foot blades to power his restaurant, but the board unanimously voted against the proposition.
However, the vote came with another recommendation for the Commission to create by March 31 a new policy for wind turbines within city limits and allow Carisch to waive a 12-month waiting period for the Arby’s wind turbine to come before the city again.
