Before committing capital to a local angel fund, are there successful venture capital investments that could be used as a model of what kind of entrepreneurial operations succeed in the state? Many times when I see angel investing discussed, it is almost in terms of some kind of philanthropy. As an investor, I would want to approach it as a local form of VC, with opportunity to share in those types of returns. I think the way to get started would be for MATR to secure funding to bring together a statewide group of potential investors to get some presentations from VC that have funded other successful startups in the region. |
