Kindergartners see new approach to learning ABCs
| December 10, 2007 |
DARIUS WEST throws his hands in the air and bounces them up and down to a rugged, bass-driven beat. He looks over to his left, flashes a mean mug and begins to recite rap lyrics with his classmates.
The lyrics, however, are nowhere near typical rap songs focused on materialistic spending, street life or growing up in the ghetto. Rather, students flow the alphabet, sing about vowels and rap about anything else a kindergartner should know.
"Seven days a week!" the group of about 15 students yells, throwing up seven fingers in the air.
