Blazing network sought for research in South Dakota

Gov. Mike Rounds wants to build a super-speed network that researchers consider essential to the state's goal of becoming a national leader in science and technology.
SDN Communications will build the network, which the governor's office says is a $30 million deal over 20 years. The immediate budget effect is $11 million for one-time costs of creating the network and $2.3 million yearly in ongoing operating costs, Rounds said on Monday.
