Tourism key to economic health

By the time you read this, the last bursts of fireworks should be over and the "Good Morning America" trucks will be packing up and heading out of town.
The effects of their visit, however, might be felt for years to come. So is that a good thing or bad?
One letter writer on Sunday declared that those of us who see the exposure as a positive are all idiots. Our reward, the writer said, will come in the form of more traffic, more crime, higher taxes and, generally speaking, more headaches.
Well then, we're idiots. But we're idiots with an iota of support.
