Two Steps Forward, Five Back - Montana's ranking in which states are the friendliest to entrepreneurs.

After several years of advancement, Montana took a big step backwards in what is one of the most exhaustive analyses of business climates in the US, the Small Business Survival Index. The Small Business and Entrepreneurship Council (SBE) each year issues the survey, revealing which states are the friendliest to entrepreneurs.
“It’s disappointing,” said Webb Brown, President of the Montana Chamber of Commerce, “This is a study we watch closely because it includes a lot of issues we believe are important.”
While a Montana neighbor, South Dakota, was identified as the best state in the nation for entrepreneurship and small business survivability, Montana was ranked 35, five steps below last year. Wyoming was third.
