Angel Investors Gain Expert Advice at Investor Summit
| November 16, 2007 |
Angel investors should always be on the lookout for that one exceptional deal that will bring homerun returns, even if it takes years to find, said Luis Villalobos, founder of the Tech Coast Angels, which is the largest angel investor group in the United States. Villalobos addressed a group of Utah angel investors at the 2nd annual Utah Angel Summit Thursday presented by Grow Utah Ventures.
The role of an angel investor is to guide and support, not dominate a company, he said. An angel investor will fund a startup in the prototype stage through the revenue stage, coming in after the support of friends and family and before venture capital.
“Our role as angels is really the first round,” Villalobos said. “If we succeed and get that venture to execute…then getting VC funding is no problem.”
