"Not until I had the opportunity to see for myself what happens in her classroom was I able to see the lifelong impact she makes on her students. She is in a class of her own when it comes to master educators and is well deserving of this award."
Susan Luinstra, the veteran teacher at Bynum Elementary School in Teton County, has been named the National Rural Education Association's 2007 Teacher of the Year.
Luinstra departed on Friday from the Great Falls International Airport to fly to Oklahoma City, Okla., where she attended the NREA Research Symposium and Centennial Convention, Nov. 9-14.
The Montana Association of County School Superintendents last February named Luinstra Montana's Rural Teacher of the Year and sponsored her trip to the NREA convention.
