Great Falls, Montana area makes progress on landing economic grants as Minuteman III deactivation proceeds

Malmstrom Air Force Base's maintenance specialists are off to a good start in dismantling 50 Minuteman III missiles from the 564th Missile Squadron between Dutton and Shelby, according to base officials.
Meanwhile, the community's economic development leaders say they're well on the way toward landing a $500,000 Defense Department grant designed to help the area adjust to the economic impact of losing the squadron's 500 personnel and accompanying road subsidies to rural counties.
