Boulder's new 'Stars': TechStars grads stay in town

Ten young companies from across the country converged here five months ago for a first-ever entrepreneurial boot camp.

The men behind those startups — hand-picked from a field of 300 — brandished different backgrounds, hopes and ideas. The boot camp, dubbed TechStars, boasted great potential, thanks to the backing of some of Boulder's most notable entrepreneurs and investors: Brad Feld, David Cohen, David Brown and Jared Polis.

In the end, that 10-week camp boiled down to a 12-minute business pitch to a room full of investors at TechStars' conclusion in August.

Since that time, some of the startups have shown they're growing up by landing financing to drive their ideas further. But it's not only the companies that are seeing the fruits of that labor — Boulder managed to inherit some new entrepreneurial blood as a result to TechStars.
