When it comes to giving up data, Verizon has its own roll-over policy

In a letter to the panel’s Democrats, Verizon said it had provided customer IP and phone records to federal authorities without a court order some 720 times between January 2005 and September 2007 (for comparison, during the same period, it turned over information in about 94,000 cases where the request was accompanied by a subpoena or court order).
