Rural economic alliance is good for the Valley

The towns of Grand View, Greenleaf, Homedale, Marsing, Melba, Parma and Wilder have plenty in common.
They all sit in rural Canyon and Owyhee counties, on the fringes of a rapidly growing Treasure Valley. They're attractive to natives and transplants looking for a small-town setting. Ranging in size from about 500 residents to about 2,600, these communities face a common challenge: attracting employers and retailers.
It makes sense, then, for these seven communities to work together.
If the newly formed Western Alliance for Economic Development succeeds, it should be a plus for its member cities — and for the entire Valley.
