Rural independent living conference coming to Missoula

New ideas for independent living in rural areas will highlight the 13th annual gathering of activists fighting for rights for people with disabilities this weekend.
The Association of Programs for Rural Independent Living conference expects about 300 people from throughout the nation, according to Summit Independent Living program manager Jude Monson. Ironically, the conference has usually been held in a major city because of the difficulty in putting together an adequate number of handicapped-accessible lodging and transportation.
