Montana Independent Contractors and Their Social Security Numbers - Judge sides with piano tuner in privacy case

A man who tuned a hotel's piano as a contractor and cited privacy in refusing to provide his Social Security number does not have to release it and must be paid, a judge has ruled.
The Red Lion Hotel in Kalispell refused to pay Frank Talley's $85 bill until he provided the number for a tax form that has space to fill in either a Social Security or a tax identification number.
