Sustainable Living Systems in Victor, Montana wins grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture

Sustainable Living Systems http://www.sustainablelivingsystems.org/ in Victor received a $25,000 federal grant to create a plan for a comprehensive local food growing, distribution and marketing system for “fresh, healthy, locally produced food.

SLS Director Jill Davies updated Ravalli County commissioners Tuesday about the program’s progress.

The project goals include making the current locally grown, produced and distributed food supply more self-sustaining and secure, and improving the economic and physical health of Bitterroot people, farms, communities and ecosystems.

The goals also include improved markets with a good return for farm produce, and new businesses in food production, processing and distribution.

The grant came from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
