Boisean sees the benefits of his company’s software in Iraq. Trancite Logic Systems

Trancite Logic Systems created a program that lets investigators sketch attack scenes quickly.

Josh Evarts found out firsthand how dangerous it is to be in Iraq.

Evarts, director of government sales at Trancite Logic Systems http://www.trancite.com/ in Boise, was in Baghdad in June when a rocket attack hit the camp he was staying in.

"We were getting food at an air base a quarter mile away, and we heard the attack and hit the deck," he said. "I knew it was close, but I didn’t know it was where we had been sleeping."

Evarts was training Iraqi police to use his company’s software program called ATTAC. That’s military lingo for "asymmetric threat and tactical analysis casebook."

Trancite at a glance

Boise-based Trancite, 1120 S. Five Mile Road, started 11 years ago with three people. The privately held software company developed a drawing program called Easy Street that it sold to law-enforcement agencies for use in recreating accident and crime scenes. Today, Trancite has 18 employees. Variations of the original program are used by more than 3,500 police and military agencies around the world. Trancite’s latest program, ATTAC, is being used by the U.S. military and Iraqi police to recreate bombings and rocket attacks in Iraq.
