Northwest Angel investors spread wings with new funds

Venture capital has jump-started some of the Puget Sound region's greatest tech successes, but VC-backed entrepreneurs often sacrifice considerable ownership and control when they accept those huge piles of cash.
Enter the angels. Individuals and groups that offer seed money in smaller batches, known as angel investors, boosted their investments by more than 10 percent nationally last year, and now angels have launched a new $5 million Seattle-based fund.
