KTEC boosts venture capital in Kansas
| August 14, 2007 |
The Kansas Technology Enterprise Corp. has primed the region’s venture capital pump with an additional $1.8 million.
Young bioscience companies such as CritiTech Inc., Urigen Inc. and Ventria Bioscience were among nine recipients of enterprise corporation investments in the past year ranging from $100,000 to $500,000.
As this latest round of investment illustrates, the enterprise corporation, commonly referred to as KTEC, has emerged as one of the area’s steadiest sources of capital for high-tech ventures.
Most high-tech hot spots can boast of being a home base for at least a few venture capital firms. Boston and Silicon Valley are well known for their venture capital riches, but even emerging bioscience regions such as St. Louis benefit from these types of investors.
