"The Bridge" Supporting People with Disabilities to Enforce their Civil Rights "THE MONTANA ADVOCACY PROGRAM"
| August 13, 2007 |
It’s not often a person can say with confidence that they have witnessed a miracle. And if they do, they run the risk of others questioning their judgment.
Well here goes.
You can question my judgment ‐‐ but I was there. On July 19, 2007, at the Montana Youth Leadership Forum (MYLF) Sponsors’ Banquet at Carroll College, Luca Patuelli, a.k.a. Lazylegz, held out his hand to a young man as an invitation to join him in a breakdance. The crowd held their breath as the young man, who uses a wheelchair and otherwise does not walk, got out of his chair. In a matter of a minute, the two men were on the floor together breakdancing.
The room was electric and the world was lifted in those moments, not only for the dancers but for every person who was there. Was it a miracle? Maybe.
