New Vice Chancellor to focus on both research and economic development

New UWM official aims to create entrepreneurial environment here.
The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee has recruited the chief economic development strategist from Mississippi State University with the goal of transforming UWM into a research-driven institution that can catalyze job creation in the Milwaukee region.
"The reputation of UWM throughout the country is probably stronger than it is in Wisconsin," said Colin Scanes, UWM's new $200,000-a-year vice chancellor for research and economic development.
