Montana startup businesses benefit from funding programs

In 2004, after nearly two decades of installing fire sprinklers in buildings, John Steab of East Helena was ready to start his own business.
He approached a bank for a loan and was turned down. But the bank saw some promise in his business plan and referred Steab to Montana Business Assistance Connection (then named Gateway Economic Development Corp.) for help with his business plan and some possible alternative sources of funding.
