SSTI Awards Honor Exceptional Achievement in Technology-Based Economic Development. Are Your Economic Development Efforts Among the Best in the Nation?

SSTI announced last month the Inaugural Awards for Excellence in TBED, a new program designed to celebrate exceptional achievement in technology-based economic development (TBED). The awards program spans a variety of categories aimed at fostering an innovative climate, including:

* Expanding the Research Infrastructure
* Commercializing Research
* Building Entrepreneurial Capacity
* Increasing Access to Capital
* Enhancing the Science & Technology Workforce
* Improving Competitiveness of Existing Industries

Awards for Excellence in TBED

As the TBED community continues to evolve in a fast-paced global economy, now is the time to examine past and current initiatives and honor the many successes occurring around us. SSTI invites you to share your story.

Why Apply?

International Recognition
As a recipient of the Excellence in TBED Award, your initiative represents a standard of excellence that has been recognized by your peers through a competitive selection process. The awards call international attention to the diligent efforts behind the initiatives that enhance our economy by growing science and technology-based companies and jobs.

External Validation
TBED Practitioners know the importance of educating key stakeholders on the importance and value of a particular approach. External validation through an Excellence in TBED Award certifies the superior quality of your initiatives, lending independent credentials to your program as your stakeholders consider future investments.

Education and Outreach

The awards program not only celebrates exceptional achievements in TBED, but also provides examples of role model initiatives for peer practitioners around the country to emulate or adopt. The award also can be used as promotional tool in your marketing, recruitment, and outreach efforts.

Winners will be recognized and announced at SSTI’s 11th Annual Conference, the premier professional development event of the year. Winners also will be showcased in the SSTI Weekly Digest and in a press release issued by SSTI. In addition, a written profile highlighting the winning initiative within each category will be posted on SSTI’s website. Finally, winners will receive exclusive use of the Excellence in TBED 2007 insignia that can be added to their website, distinguishing their exceptional achievement in the TBED community.

Do not miss this unique opportunity to receive international recognition and showcase the excellence of your initiative.

Applications are due by July 20, 2007. The award application and additional information are available at: http://www.ssti.org/awards.htm
