New venture to pursue coal-to-fuel project

Dorsey & Whitney - An International business law firm, applying a business perspective to clients' needs in Missoula, Montana and beyond.

A proposal for a North Dakota plant to convert coal into diesel and jet fuel has more than tripled in size, and the three companies behind it have formed a single company to oversee the project.

Great River Energy of Elk River, Minn., and Headwaters Inc. of South Jordan, Utah, are exploring the idea with Dallas-based North American Coal Corp. They have formed American Lignite Energy LLC to move the venture forward.
