More low-income housing being built green

Early Seattle efforts helped inspire state and federal support

While environmentally friendly building has gained a following in recent years, not all low-income housing builders have rushed to join the movement.

"There definitely was a concern that it was going to detract from our core mission or it was going to add costs," said Kollin Min, senior regional program director for Enterprise Community Partners, a Maryland-based non-profit that supports affordable housing efforts nationwide.
