Choteau asked to help with geo-map by the National Geographic Society

The "Geotourism Mapguide" would be a creation of the National Geographic Society, a world-famous nonprofit scientific and educational organization, and local partners in the Rocky Mountain border region of Montana, Alberta and British Columbia. George Bird Grinnell coined the phase for the region in 1895, labeling it the "crown of the continent."

The term geotourism means tourism that sustains or enhances the geographical character of a place, its environment, heritage, aesthetics, culture and the well-being of its residents.
