Making Waves – Couple buys raft business as whitewater recreation grows in Missoula area. "10,000 Waves"

Bear Paw Development Corporation is a private non-profit organization created for the purpose of administering programs to help improve regional economic conditions in Hill, Blaine, Liberty, Chouteau and Phillips Counties and the Fort Belknap and Rocky Boy's Indian Reservations.

The region’s rivers were short 10,000 Waves http://www.10000-waves.com/ last season, but now the local raft and kayak adventure business is churning the waters again in preparation for a new season with new owners and a new location.

The Slates are from Boise, Idaho, and moved to western Montana in search of a smaller community in which to raise their two young children. Both grew up in small towns in Washington and were intent on returning to the friendly, relaxed atmospheres they remembered from their childhoods. Their new neighbors, they noted, have been very welcoming.
