Kathy Coll is a profile in high school leadership
March 31, 2007 /
In 1984, student council adviser Kathy Coll faced a unique challenge: how to host a state student council convention with most of her students at a different school.
Coll taught English at North Allegheny Intermediate High, a ninth- and 10th-grade school, but most of the student leaders had moved on to North Allegheny High School, the 11th- and 12th-grade school 3 miles away.
Her solution was to bring the students back to the intermediate high for a trial leadership class to teach them the skills they would need to put on the conference.
