Butte, Montana will host the National Folk Festival for 3 years beginning in 2008

It’s an undertaking of monumental proportions.

For three years beginning in 2008, the city of Butte is sponsoring the National Folk Festival and will play host to thousands of visitors from throughout the country.

How Butte got its festival

Barbara Kornet, co-owner of the Uptown Cafe, was Butte’s first contact with the National Folk Festival.

She picked up a booklet about the event at a Main Street annual conference last year in New Orleans.

“I read about it, and it was right up Butte’s alley,” she said.
